Harrison Flex-10 FAQ

What operating systems are supported?

Windows (Intel based systems), macOS, and Linux are supported.

On macOS and Linux, Flex-10 does not need a driver and will operate in class compliant mode and there is not additional software to install.

 

What type of USB does the unit have?

The connector on the back of the Harrison Flex-10 is USB-C. Harrison provides a USB-C and a USB-A adapter. The type of USB connector on your computer will determine if you use this adapter or not.

Harrison Flex-10 interfaces utilize USB 3.0 and it will make no difference to the type of cable connector you use on your computer side.

Harrison Flex-10 is compatible with USB 4.0 because USB 4.0 is backwards compatible.

Thunderbolt 3 and 4 use the USB-C connector type and are normally compatible with all USB devices directly.

 

USB Hubs

Wherever possible, it is best to connect directly to USB on your computer.

If you must connect via a hub, choose one with sufficient current specifications that will provide reliable performance; not all USB hubs are created equally. We recommend the use of a powered USB 3.0 hub; ie a hub that has an external DC power supply and USB 3.0 ports for your devices.

Please note that you will still need to use a USB cable of suitable length with a powered USB hub.

Harrison does not make specific recommendations on USB hubs and cables.

USB 3.0 specifies a maximum length of 5 meters (16 feet). Beyond that length you must use a powered hub or powered extender. 

 

The sound is not correct on my Windows system.

Please check that Windows Sound Enhancements are disable. To do this, go to the Windows “Sound” tab via the control panel and select “Analog 1-2” as the primary outputs. Once selected, click “Configure” to open the properties panel where you should disable all audio enhancements to ensure that the Harrison Flex-10 operates as expected across all system applications.
